KIRCHHOFF Automotive uses PLATO SCIO™ for Process FMEAs

KIRCHHOFF Automotive is leading supplier of metal structures as well as of system components and modular assemblies for the international automobile industry.

With centralized technical development and sales sites in Germany and 29 decentralized production facilities in 12 countries, the company has established an international process chain consisting of the core technologies of forming, assembling, and surface treatment while maintaining close contact with its customers.

KIRCHHOFF Automotive has decided to introduce the PLATO SCIO™ risk management software, and the launch phase has been successfully completed. Over a period of 10 months, a core team of 3 KIRCHHOFF Automotive employees and the PLATO AG developed a ready-to-use SCIO™ system for process FMEAs. They have configured the database (languages, rights, printing), built up the Variant tree, created basic FMEAs, and documented everything in detail. This system has already been in active use by 8 FMEA moderators since the beginning of January.

Initial feedback from the FMEA moderators:

  • "The FMEA team meeting is much better prepared now and is therefore more effective."
  • "Product and process characteristics only need to be entered once now instead of in 3 different documents (FMEA, CP, and PFC) like before."

Starting in the summer of this year, the system will be rolled out in the Design department.
