PLATO Special Characteristics

PLATO Special CharacteristicsEnsure Consistency of Special Characteristics.

The method PLATO Special Characteristics offers the possibility to identify Special Characteristics systematically, comprehensibly and transparently in the PLATO e1ns data model and is based on the VDA "Process Description Special Characteristics (BM)".

PLATO Special CharacteristicsFor Robust Designs and Controlled Processes.

Special Characteristics (SC) are product characteristics and/or process characteristics that may have an impact on Functional Safety (operational safety and safety in use), compliance with official regulations, function, performance, fit, appearance or further processing of the product [cf. TS 16949, VDA 4.3, VDA 6.1]. By being used early in the development process, the Special Features help to ensure robust designs and controlled processes. Dealing with them is especially required in the automotive sector.

With PLATO Special Characteristics  you can identify these characteristics systematically, comprehensibly and transparently in the PLATO e1ns data model. It is based on the VDA "Process Description of Special Characteristics (SC)".

Special Characteristics are a subset of the totality of all characteristics that require special care in the development and manufacturing process. For identification purposes, Special Characteristics are marked, for example, with CC, SC, DZ, CZ, D, L, F, and many more. Companies use different designations.

Why PLATO Special Characteristics? Your Advantages.
Integrated and Consistent Documentation
  • Any number of characteristics can be attached to functions in PLATO e1ns and can contain a number, classification, relation, value, modality, max. value, min. value, unit and test method in addition to the characteristic name.
  • In typical FMEA structures, characteristics can be added at different levels, i.e. there can be assembly characteristics as well as component characteristics.
  • The classification of characteristics can be defined for each characteristic individually.
  • Thanks to the PLATO e1ns data model, each characteristic is available in both the D-FMEA, P-FMEA and the Production Control Plan (PLP) or Control Plan (CP). This eliminates deviations of the characteristics in these documents.
Consistent, Up-To-Date and Easily Available Data
  • Systematic, traceable and transparent in the PLATO e1ns data model
  • Minimal effort for later changes / additions
  • PLATO Special Characteristics is a web application and therefore available without (local) installation. Employees from all areas of the company have easy access - worldwide.
  • No redundant data
Adaptable to Individual Requirements
  • PLATO Special Characteristics benefits from the PLATO modular concept.
  • Forms are supplemented with additional columns or data as needed - depending on a company's internal requirements.
  • The output of the data can also be configured individually, depending on which documents are required for projects, customers or archiving.
